A brief StrikeEngine guide to getting the best deal on your Performance Car Insurance.

The one thing to remember no matter what, is to be 100% honest with the insurance company that your getting an insurance quote with/taking out an insurance policy with. If you have a modified or high performance car and your looking for high performance car insurance/modified car insurance tell the insurance broker everything about the car, every modification and every detail of your driving record for example speeding tickets bans and so on. This will give you peace of mind in the event of any unfortunate events such as accidents or theft. The last thing you need when you need a swift payout is problems with the insurer regarding the condition and modifications on the car. This may not only delay pay out but also leave you with less money than what you were expecting.

Declaring modifications on you vehicle will inevitably lead to a higher insurance premium but you may be able to offset this extra cost. By covering the value of the added parts as part of the insurance on the car. In the unlikely event that you need to make a claim you will be able to more than offset the extra cost of the premium against the value of the modifications. For example if you have an expensive aftermarket car stereo fitted to your vehicle the money you save by the insurance company paying for a replacement will more than offset the extra premium. Basically when declaring your car modifications get an agreed value
for the car at the end of the day a Sierra Cosworth with 15,000 pounds of mods is only a 11 year old Sierra to some insurance companies. Again getting an agreed value may be extra so it depends on the individual car as to if its worth taking out.

Excess: Asking for an increased excess on your high performance car insurance policy may make the premium cheaper. Ask the insurance companies that you phone what sort of discounts you can get for taking an increased excess. Depending on your car and its uses it may be a worthwhile option.

Customer Service: If your phoning companies you haven't had any contact with before make a mental not of what their customer service is like, how long do they take to pick up the phone, are they polite, do they seem organised and so on. The quote department will probably be the most customer service orientated out of the whole company but it should give you an idea of the sort of company your dealing with, at the end of the day the insurance broker with the cheapest quote may not be the best option if you cant get in
touch with them on the phone or are slow getting back to you especially when you have accident paperwork to sort out or you want to change the details in the insurance policy.

Modifications: As mentioned above if your car is already modified it is strongly recommended that you declare absolutely every modification on the car. If your thinking about adding modification during the term of the policy ask the company how much these changes will cost in admin fees and how much extra you will have to pay to cover the car with these premiums. if possible also ge these quotes for changes in writing. You will probably have to be specific about the mods that you are fitting but having the extra costs in mind will help give the total cost of the modifications when you come to purchase the products. Non specialist companies who cater for Joe Public may not even cover certain modifications so matter how cheap they
are there no good to you if you've have plans to fit performance parts during the term of the policy.

The companies we have listed here are the ones we would try if we were looking for performance car insurance, amd these are some of the steps we would take in search of the best value car insurance but this is just our opinion.
