New Michelin Pilot Super Sport – Excellent in all conditions
Compared to the old Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres offer better turn in, more grip and better feedback to the driver.
When tested in the wet the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres outperformed some supposedly dedicated rain tyres. It recvoered from skids faster and had shorting stopping distances.
The secret to the performance of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is that it uses Kevlar in it’s construction which means it can have the centre of the tyre wound tighter meaning the tyre doesn’t bow out at high speeds leaving more rubber in contact with the road.
The shoulders of the tyre are also stiffer meaning the tyre is more stable under hard cornering and the centre of the tyre is softer for more grip in the wet.
The Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyre is not cheap but them quality rarely is. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport should be available from tyre dealers at the time of writing.
