FPL GW4 Predicted Points Tool – Ignored Trend?

Is this a new trend & are people sleeping on it? #fpl #fplpointsprediction

The StrikeEngine FPL predicted points tool has some interesting predicted points data for GW4. Or perhaps what’s interesting is the data that isn’t there.

New Trend for 25/26?

The missing data is for forwards. There isn’t a single striker in the Top 20 players who are predicted to score the most points this week.

Unfair?

The Predict Points tool only includes players which have played more than 300 minutes so you might say it’s unfair. Forwards don’t make the top 20 because they haven’t played 300 minutes but I think that in itself tells us something.

So far at least we are seeing forwards being rotated. The top three highest scoring forwards are Pedro, Haaland and Ekitike and they have played 252, 252 and 228 minutes respectively. In short, are we looking at a minutes risk for strikers this year?

But…

Even if there is rotation this year, you may say “but it’s the points they score that matters”.

Okay, let’s look at the points, 26, 24 and 22. Seems decent after 3 games until you see the third placed defender has scored 26 points. And the third best midfielder has also scored 22 points.

Which Means…

At the moment at least (it is still super early in the season) it looks like we could see forwards lacking minutes vs all other positions. And so far at least, forwards look like absolutely horrible value. Not only are they the most expensive players, the least expensive outfield players are outscoring them.

GW4 Predicted Points – Moving “Forward”

For the time being I am going to be super cautious with strikers. I am absolutely going to be looking at spending the least amount possible on them.

Sure it could be a blip, some defenders have had incredible weeks and that may or may not be sustainable. But as it stands now, defenders look to be the best position on the field from a points point of view, from a price point of view and from a value point of view.
