DK Engineering VS JayEmm – SERIOUS Accusations

JayEmm on Cars has a go at DK Engineering

JayEmm on cars has done what I can only describe as a hit piece on DK Engineering. In this article, I’m going to briefly go over the video and find out if JayEmm was right to be so scathing.

The video is here

JayEmm on Cars attack video on DK Engineering

Long Story Short

The video goes on and on so I’ll compress it to the facts as I understand them presented by JayEmm.

  • Car was offered to him to review.
  • Car was going to be put to auction.
  • One of the conditions was that the auction was to be mentioned in the video
  • Car had an apparent mechanical fault when it was delivered to JayEmm
  • Fault was noticed by JayEmm and the delivery driver
  • DK Engineering insisted car was not dangerous
  • JayEmm disagrees and shows video to illustrate his opinion
  • JayEmm expresses his incredulity that a car in this condition would be put to auction by DK Engineering
  • JayEmm peturbed that DK Engineering didn’t fix car and give it back to him to review.
  • JayEmm peturbed that he had been “strung along” for months with the promise of free car to review.
  • DK continue to insist car was not dangerous.
  • JayEmm has no idea what was wrong with car.

I think that covers the situation.

Who’s Right?

There is a lot to unpack.

JayEmm’s position seems a bit high and mighty.

He complains about not getting a car for free to review so he can make money from said review.

I think he may have lost the plot with regards to who is doing who a favour. Auction or not, JayEmm would make money from the review.

He then, in my opinion, viciously attacks DK Engineering’s integrity for saying they supplied him with an unsafe car.

The car may have been unsafe, it may not have been.

Yes the video looked extremely worrying. Nevertheless JayEmm himself confesses that he does not know what was wrong with the car. I’m sure it is highly unlikely but nevertheless possible that the car had an issue that would have righted itself if driven. The point is, JayEmm does not know what issue the car ad but seems to state as fact car was dangerous.

I don’t think he needed to go this far.

He could have simply said the car was not performing as he would expect and that it should be looked at.

He could also continue to say who supplied it to him and why.

I think playing the “dangerous” card was a step too far, given he didn’t know what was wrong.

If he thought it serious enough to call it dangerous, and he had it in the back of his mind that he would make a video about the issue, I would have thought, in the interest of good journalism, he would have at least looked underneath the car to at least try and understand what the issue was.

He appears to have not made the slightest effort to understand the problem but at the same time has decided to say the car is dangerous.

Car Knowledge

With the most respect possible. JayEmm does not strike me as someone mechanically inclined. If this is true, and if he acknowledges this, then he should also acknowledge he is not qualified to make a judgement about a car’s mechanical condition. And especially if he has made no effort to understand the problem.

Jilted

To my mind, the video appears to be made by someone who feels they have be wronged and they are taking revenge on the perpetrator. A perp who has not taken them seriously. The video is in part, a pluming of the feathers, a flex, to show the perp who is the boss.

Which is a shame.

DK

Could DK have handled this better? Could DK have handled JayEmm better?

As I said, JayEmm on Cars appears to feel wronged, that he hasn’t been taken seriously enough, perhaps he even feels a bit used.

DK appears to have moved on, put the whole episode behind them and JayEmm simply won’t let the bone go.

Perhaps they ignored JayEmm and this is where the bad feeling has come from.

Perhaps JayEmm was right, perhaps there was a serious problem. However, a professional garage with decades of experience can come up with a plausible reason as to why it happened (if they desire) and everyone leaves with their pride intact.

Dirty Feeling

The whole thing seems so unnecessary.

Perhaps this is a classic case of neither party wanting to be the bigger person and take it on the chin.

Be it DK spending thousands to fix the problem to give the car back to JayEmm to review (as a professional courtesy).

Or JayEmm making a similar video to the one above, but acknowledging that he made no effort to understand the problem and/or he has no knowledge/experience to diagnose the problem to start with.

Knock On Effects – Casualties

As it stands at the moment, questions marks, rightly or wrongly will be asked about the quality of DK’s work by at least some people.

The most obvious causalities (in my opinion) of this will be DK customers.

DK customers with expensive cars but with DK service stamps in the book.

I can imagine these people might be badly harangued on price come selling time.

Which Leaves Us Where?

Of course this video is going to go viral.

Of course this video is going to go viral among DK Engineering customers and employees.

The easiest answer would have been to just fix the car and give it to JayEmm with a believable explanation of what happened. Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed.

Does DK come out on social media with an explanation? Would that give the matter too much gravity?

Perhaps they simply attempt to sue for slander? Yes JayEmm could be right but as I said above, he made serious accusations without seriously attempting to see if his accusations were true.

Whatever the case may be, and again, like I said above, the whole situation seems like it could have been easily avoided.

DK carrying out rudimentary checks on the car (if no check had taken place) and/or

DK fixing the car and giving it back to JayEmm for test and/or

JayEmm using his own eyes to identify the problem before making serious accusations.

To me, as someone on the outside, with limited grasp of the facts, the whole situation smacks of two parties refusing to take responsibility for their own actions.

To be continued.
