Santorini Earthquake Updates – LIVE Links & Videos

A collection of links giving Santorini earthquake updates & video analysis around the clock. First group of links are to websites detailing the latest detected earthquakes. The second group of links are to actual seismic stations. Third group is to YouTubers doing analysis of the current situation.
Live Earthquake Updates (reorganised 23.3.25)
Earthquakes.gr
This site seems to give the best earthquake updates. You get all of them but some might be duplicates so that’s something to bear in mind when looking at the earthquake data.
NOTE: Layout of website is much better if the site is viewed on mobile or zoomed in 200% if you are using a 1920 wide screen because earthquake list is moved to bottom of screen making it much easier to read.
noa.gr
University of Athens website gives a list of earthquakes in Greece as they happen. This can lag slightly behind the first website. And perhaps they take out the duplicate quakes for publishing. Other than that data includes location and depth with a map.
Volcano Discovery – Stats South Aegean
Some key stats from the South Aegean including the rolling cumulative energy released
Volcano Discovery update articles
GNSS Data (Ground Movement Patterns)
East-West, North-South, Up-Down movement data and trends
-Santorini Station data (satellite) showing ground uplift and lateral movement
Seismograph Stations Greece
Anydros seismic graph live updates
Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre
Almost daily updates with graphics and articles and links to recent papers. EMSC, perhaps slightly less detailed than the previous two links. ie they may not have earthquakes the other two list. This difference with this site is that you can report what you felt and you can read other people’s comments about the quake. Which is a nice touch. It can give you an idea of how long a tremor lasted and what people noticed vs the Richter rating. You can even search for earthquakes which have comments
Aristotle University Thessaloniki
Another feed that dumps all the earthquakes detected onto the list. There may be some duplicates. Site is easier to read on desktop. It’s cramped on mobile.
Raspberry Shake
Not exactly sure what this is. I think it is earthquake data compiled by independent network of seismic sensors based on Raspberry Pie development board. Data seems to be updated constantly and gives live data directly from each device. Very interesting.
USGS
This I do not recommend. USGS were giving updates from all the quakes but they have stopped. It seems they now only give some of the earthquakes over 4.0 Richter. Perhaps recording all the Greek quakes was dominating the list.
YouTubers – Santorini Video Analysis and Updates
These are some YouTube channels which I think give okay Santorini earthquake updates ie not dramatic and seem based on accurate data analysis.
Geology Hub
Updates of geology around the world, but has been giving video updates on Santorini earthquakes over the last week. He seems to be looking at the latest gathered data and making his own analysis. Down to earth and fact based. Obviously the interpretations in his videos may or may not be accurate.
Stefan Burns
Definitely injects more drama the GeologyHub and is also far more willing to stick his neck out with regards to what might happen.
Shawn Willsey (added 21.2.25)
Geology professor occasionally commenting on this swarm
Silki
Layman updates with added drama. Definitely not main stream analysis but entertaining and thought provoking. Can use good sources which others have missed.
The EarthMaster
Layman looking at earthquake patterns. More reporting of earthquakes that deeper analysis.
SSGEOS
Found this this morning. Does not deal with latest information. Instead gives a broader look at the geology of the area and the things drive the activity.

YouTubers
General consensus from the video creators above is that these earthquakes are at least in part magmatic. I think it’s fair to say the creators cannot understand why the official line from the Greek government appears to be that magma has nothing to do with these earthquakes.
USGS
Earthquakes still happening with regularity with USGS appearing to have cut out all earthquakes under 4 from their recordings in Greece.
BGS
BGS have been using their own AI/Machine Learning algorithms is claimed to measure many more earthquakes than traditional methods. They claim “We have evidence that this is fluid-driven, swarm-type seismicity that comes in pulses. “. Which to me says they think magma is playing a role. The first version of anything is never the best so I would be wary of putting too much weight behind their claims, especially as they haven’t released any info no how they are doing the analysis.
SW Movement
And finally there appear to be some breakout earthquakes occurring closer to Santorini with some quakes have their source in the caldera. At the time of writing I think there has been one 4+ Richter quake whose source was in the Santorini caldera.
