MYSTERY 14 Year Old Girl, Balcony Fall Thessaloniki – SOLVED

In the early hours of yesterday morning a 14 year old girl was found badly injured on a pavement in central Thessaloniki. She had fallen off a balcony. The mystery is no one in the building is seeming to claim that they know who she is. at the time
Found
The girl was seen by a passing driver (although many cars passed without noticing her). The driver initially passed her body but then reversed back to her position. When the driver released what they were looking at they frantically flagged down the ambulance and police who had been called earlier by a neighbour across the street who had seen the girl lying on the pavement in a cartoon like position due to her injuries.
Initially
Initial hypothesis was that she had been assaulted or hit by a car. However video footage found later shows her falling from a balcony above.
What We Know – Unconfirmed
It is understood that a NATO employee living in the building was speaking to police.
The ground floor of the apartment building takes up the height of two floors. The first floor apartment is apparently empty. As things stands it seems she would have fell from at least the second floor apartment.
The girl has been subsequently identified the following morning.
She is critically injured and in the ICU. Many bones in her body are broken but her skull is intact due to her arm being under it as she fell.
What Happened
The police knocked on doors of the apartment block that night asking if anyone had a 25 year old woman living in their apartment.
The police spoke to the father of the girl and he told them no (his daughter was 13/14 years old)
The father has obviously not checked on his daughter there and then.
The father (or grandmother who also stayed in the apartment) have awoken in the morning to find the girl missing.
The father has then contacted the police to tell them their 13/14 year girl is missing.
As some point after that someone has put two and two together and realised that the “25” year old woman they found on the pavement is in fact the “missing” 13/14 year old girl.
The have found a papers apparently written by the girl which indicates she may have considered suicide
Question
I suppose the biggest question for me is why would someone not check on their daughter when the police asks you something like this in the middle of the night. Not that it would make any difference at that point.
