Lightweight Pulleys

Lightweight Pulleys

Lightweight pulley manufacturers from around the world. Lightweight pulleys give you more horsepower to the wheels because less engine power is used turning the heavy standard pulleys. Unorthodox also use underdrive pulleys which further increase the power to the wheels as less power is used due to the pulleys not turning as fast. The benefits in acceleration are most notable in the lower gears, as the gear increases the benefit will lessen because the wind resistance of the vehicle becomes the dominant factor in resisting acceleration as opposed to the weight of the vehicle at lower speed

Lightweight Pulleys

CDF Racing
CDFRacing Ltd was founded by Chris Florey in 2005.

CDF Racing are a precision engineering company here in the Uk .
We manufacturer Timing pulleys , Adjustable Cam pulleys , Cam gears ,Sprockets, Lightweight pulleys and more using the latest cnc turning and high speed milling machines.
We also stock a wide range of automotive engine pulleys for Subaru impreza ,Toyota starlets and supras , Nissan gtir's , Ford cosworth and zetec and many more.
Along with this we can also offer leading brand names like Whiteline, Samco, Baliey, Powerflex,Peformance friction and Ksport.

We manufacture parts for some big name in the automotive world including the USA Rally team

CDF are mainly known for there lightweight pulleys. Although we have also been producing some quality suspension parts like droplinks, Anti lift kits and engine mounts.

CDF Racing are looking to now push there products worldwide and are looking for sole importers for each country.
We have already appointed Vermont sports car (US RALLY TEAM) for USA and are currently talking to companies in Australia, Canada and Japan

Cobb Tuning
The COBB Tuning Lightweight Main Pulley is CAD designed and CNC machines from Billet 6061-T6 and anodized to withstanding the toughest of under engine conditions. Replacing the factory main pulley, the lightweight unit improves acceleration by reducing the rotational mass of the stock unit by as much as 4lbs.

Craven Speed - Mini, Audi
Reduce Your Rotating Mass
This pulley set includes a precision machined 6061 anodized aluminum copy of of the Crank pulley, Power Steering Pulley and the Alternator Pulley on your VW. Reducing the weight on these pulleys reduces the parasitic drag on load on the engine so there is more left for the wheels.

These CravenSpeed pulleys are stock diameter (OEM sized) crank pulleys, utilizing the original belt layout. Since the crank pulley diameter is unchanged, they maintain alternator output at exactly stock output levels so you need not worry about flat batteries or weak charging capabilities. Through extensive weight savings afforded by 6061 aircraft aluminum construction, power gains of up to 10% are available depending on how your MINI is set up. CravenSpeed crank pulleys come fully balanced and counter-weighted, and feature anodizing for superb wear resistance & strength.

Releasing Power
The rule of thumb is that each pound of weight taken off the engines rotating assembly is worth approximately 2.7HP. The concept is that the crank is a parasite; it does not put power to the drivetrain but still requires the energy produced by the engine to rotate. When you reduce this parasitic weight, you release power that was previously used only for spinning the supercharger and alternator.

Is this crank pulley safe?
The pulleys on the R53's 1.6 and most new smaller engines have an elastomer (rubber ring) incorporated into the pulley that looks similar to a harmonic damper. The elastomer in the OEM pulley serves as an isolator, which is there to suppress natural vibration and noise from the engine itself, the A/C compressor, P/S pump, and alternator. The purpose of a traditional harmonic damper is to protect against crank failure from torsional movement. This is not necessary in the MINI or most modern engines because of the many advances in engine design and materials. Factors such as stroke, displacement, inline, V configurations, power output, etc., do determine when and how these harmonics and torsional movements occur.

Roger Clark Motorsport - Subaru
Roger Clark Motorsport’s latest addition to their lightweight pulley sets is the Super-lite series, specifically designed for Subaru Impreza’s manufactured from 1992 to 2000.

Developed for the extreme power enthusiast, the further weight reduction has been achieved by additional precision machining and removal of the air conditioning drive on the crankshaft pulley.

Constructed from the highest quality aluminium, these pulleys have been manufactured utilising the latest CNC techniques as used by today’s leading Formula 1 teams.
After machining, all Super-lite pulleys are Nickel plated, followed by the CNC of the “Roger Clark Motorsport” logo.

Weighing just 850grams, they offer a reduction in weight of 2.33 Kgs over the OEM units. This weight reduction lowers the engine’s reciprocating mass, improving acceleration and enhancing engine response as well of giving your engine the Roger Clark Motorsport identity and seal of quality.

Our kit retains the standard pulley diameters which allow the use of the existing auxiliary drive belt to ensure power steering and alternator speeds remain standard.

The Super-lite kit comprises of crank pulley, alternator pulley, power steering pulley and a replacement nut and spring washer.

Please note that it is not possible to run air-conditioning with this pulley arrangement.

The Super-lite series is only available in Nickel finish.

Stillen
STILLEN has long manufactured precision pulleys for our supercharger kits. We have used this expertise to produce a new line of high performance crank and accessory pulleys.

Each pulley is machined from 6061 aerospace grade billet aluminum with a bold new design to maximize performance, strength and minimum weight. 304 stainless steel sleeves are used for main seal contact points for durability. Stock timing marks are maintained and keyways are precision broached. All pulleys are CNC turned, milled and balanced based on computer generated designs.

Up to 80% lighter weight than stock steel and up to 10% lighter than other aftermarket pulleys, we’ve seen power gains of up to 10+ HP at the wheels.

Unorthodox
UNDERDRIVE

Our most popular pulleys sets, they increase performance by reducing the engines spinning weight and also because they underdrive all the accessories (a/c, alternator, p/s & w/p). We are very careful not to overdue the amount of underdrive for two main reasons. We do this to maximize the weight loss on the crankshaft where most of the horsepower gains are realized. We are very careful not to overdue the amount of underdrive very little horsepower is gained from extreme underdriving over 20%. We always keep our underdrive percentage under 20% allowing us to maintain factory specified outputs for the accessories (a/c, alternator, power steering & water pump). Our designs allow you to upgrade your stereo to a system of up to 600 watts (RMS) and not have any charging problems. Underdriving gives you 10-15% more power than our stock diameter pulley sets (See below).
Unorthodox Lightweight Underdrive PulleyUnorthodox Lightweight Underdrive Pulley

STOCK DIAMETER

Some customers asked for pulley sets without underdrive. They want to keep the stock speed for their alternators, superchargers and water pumps. UR developed this version because the performance benefits of weight reduction outweigh the need for underdrive, especially for audio enthusiasts as some audio competitions require voltage to remain at a specific level. Stock diameter is also important for factory or aftermarket superchargers. Superchargers need the stock diameter to keep the same boost you had with the factory crank pulley. The big weight loss gets you a lot more power to the wheels.
