Audi Q7 3.0 TDI Problem – 2016/17 Camshafts 9K Repair Bill!
VAG Technic have just down a video on a repair on an Audi Q7 3.0 TDI 2016/17 model and the bill was just under 10K Pounds. You might say, “it’s a luxury car, things can happen” except it appears that the 3.0TDI engine could possibly have an inherent issue that could potentially affect any 3.0TDI Q7 model.
In short, if you are looking at a used Audi Q7 with the 3.0TDI motor, it may be an idea to factor in a 9K bill into the price of the car you are looking at.
The issue, at least in the car in the video, is wear to the timing gears and the garage in the video hypothesises that this issue could be caused by low oil pressure. The labour bill is huge because, among other things, it’s an engine out job and second of the price of the parts is absolutely astronomical and the only place that have the parts are Audi.
Apparently there have been some Q7 3.0 TDI recalls for worn cam gears so it could be a known issue with this engine.
