Introduction
The Roger Clark Motorsport Subaru Impreza WRX STi is fully road legal even though the car lays claim to the following figures. 9.84secs 1/4 mile @ 143mph, its 2 litre engine develops
709bhp@7500rpm and 620lbs/ft even without the use of its 150bhp nitrous oxide system.
Roger Clark Motorsport Impreza
The car is built up from a bare shell, where a roll cage is installed, Kevlar bucket seats, MOTEC LCD data display, Nitrous Oxide System, Ohlins coil over dampers with remote reservoirs, a bespoke AP Racing big brake kit, Lightweight OZ Superleggeras to name just a handful of the performance parts used.
Engine
The bottom end in the Roger Clark Subaru Impreza is a forged steel item, the rods are elongated and connect to custom spec pistons, the cylinder heads are ported and polished and are installed with WRC titanium valve gear and suitably extreme camshafts. Fuelling is taken care of by a custom fuel cell from which 2 pumps draw fuel with the petrol being forced into the engine through 8 injectors. The inlet manifold is the exact same design as that found on the WRC Subaru Impreza, this is fed from short, lag free hard pipes leading from a massive front mounted intercooler with water spray.
Turbo
This Subaru Impreza uses a Garrett GT3040 turbo with features state of the art ball bearing technology and is mount mounted on a bespoke twisted exhaust manifold with an external waste gate with the exhaust gases exiting through a custom de catted exhaust system. The whole engine is managed by MOTEC electronics with all the mapping having been carried out by Roger Clark Motorsport themselves.
Transmission
To cope with the mega output of this Impreza engine, the Subaru transmission is totally overhauled with a Modena 6 speed dog box with straight cut gears, high grade clutch, lightweight flywheel, carbon fibre prop shaft, plated LSD and an electronic diff control.
Driving the Monster
The Roger Clark Subaru Impreza retains its flat four rumble, blip the throttle and the revs rise and fall rapidly, smoothly and deafeningly. Engaging the clutch and burying the throttle results in unbelievable acceleration which leaves your body left to fight the crushing G Forces, each new gear unveiling another slug of acceleration. And all this from a 2 litre engine. Price for this conversion is on request.
